it’s the day before thanksgiving, and most of the country is done with their gardening or close to it:

but today in la it’s going to be 75 degrees. i’m going to go after work and plant my new “beer friend” edamame, along with some mizuna (chrysanthemum greens), baby bok choy, and green onions. it’s a little bit colder than the green onions and edamame recommend for planting but the weather’s supposed to stay in the 70s/60s until mid december. the radishes and mizuna are perfect for this weather, though.

i got a call from the garden coordinator this morning asking if i was out of town for the holiday because my garden looked pretty barren, so i guess that means that my lettuce and peas and carrots must still not have sprouted. i think i planted the lettuce too deep. i wonder if i can just scrape off some of the dirt on top. maybe i’ll bring home some dirt and try to start some lettuce in an egg carton this weekend or something.
