dailyclaw: Radio Jerks is free from it’s 90s grips, but loses someone in its wake. Luke Maxwell will no longer being doing the show, but I have a fantastic guest co-host in Heather to replace him. If it goes well I might make her permanent, so let’s hope for the best! I have complete confidence in her. Gives us a second shot!

small setback
i went up to the roof to water the lettuce and cauliflower i started about 2 weeks ago, and i think one of the neighbor kids tore off all the lettuce leaves for me. they stacked them nicely in a pile next to the flat of sprouts. ugh. i brought the stems and peat pods to work so i could try to rip the stems out and reuse them, but i might end up just throwing them away. i’ve got 200 coconut...

thoughts on 100 days of gardening
i guess in retrospect it should have been obvious that when it is COLDER stuff grows SLOWER. if i were subsistence farming i would be vulture food about 6 times by now. so far there doesn’t seem to be such a thing as too much lettuce. birds can tell between cabbage and lettuce. i know this because they’ve tried to eat every cabbage or cabbage-related vegetable (bok choy, cauliflower,...

Forage is a new restaurant in Silver Lake (apparently this is where plaid was invented?) that is trying something innovative - they will put out calls for locally grown ingredients and if you bring some in, they’ll make a meal with your produce!
